COVID-19 UPDATE: First Department Updates Virtual Court Rules

New York, New York–April 21, 2020–The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York, First Department, updated its rules concerning its virtual court operations. You can find the full update here.

Importantly, appeals set for the Special May 2020 term have been published on the First Department’s Calendar webpage, and will begin May 6, 2020. Should the parties wish to participate in oral argument via Skype, they must make such request no later than one week prior to their calendar date by emailing the First Department and copying the other parties. The parties must attach their Notice of Appearance to such request.

Appellants must also be mindful of the Special June 2020 term’s briefing deadlines, setting May 8, 2020 as the due date for responding briefs and May 18, 2020 for reply briefs.
